OTIS HOPE CAREY OPENING EXHIBITION

Influential contemporary Australian artist Otis Hope Carey launched a solo exhibition at The Slow Bali on Saturday the 6th of October. Carey’s work is deeply reflective of his cultural roots and the Gumbaynggir people, an Australian Aboriginal group of the mid north coast of New South Wales. The contour lines and movement of his work create a powerful viewing experience which marries visual immediacy with the spiritual and conceptual nature of Carey’s contemporary practice. His creativity does not stop at the canvas, with his unorthodox surfing style garnering international attention, and his eye for fashion seeing him working with Billabong. Beyond creativity, Otis has become a cultural icon admired for his public persona and bravado on topics like men’s mental health. His opening at The Slow drew a crowd of admirers and plenty of praise.
